Biodegradable and recyclable bags from Ecobags…
It’s time for a change – time to think about the future, time to shop with MYBAGCARES and stand tall.
For every bag purchased, we’ll plant a TREE right here in New Zealand on Motutapu Island.
This will RESTORE the landscape and re-establish NATIVE BIRD habitats. That’s what we’re all about.
In the end, it’s not a bag, it’s an Attitude. And it’s a CHANGE.
Help carry the change forward with mybagcares.
How does mybagcare?
One bag = One Tree. This is what Mybagcares is all about.
That one tree will not only clean the air but restore the beauty to Motutapu by reestablishing native bird habitats and help restore the landscape of the island.
Mybagcares aims to replace the use of hundreds of plastic bags. In New Zealand we use up to 30 million plastic bags every year which can take decades to break down and still leave traces behind which contaminate our soil and water ways. And not to forget that plastic is a killer for our native animals.
These bags are biodegradable and recyclable. They are made from natural fibers in canvas and jute (hemp). This bag is hard wearing, so you won’t just do one trip to the shops. It’ll live on – and on.

Mybagcares has been introduced in New Zealand by Ecobags. At Ecobags, we wish to encourage small eco changes to make a bigger difference to our planet, by encouraging people to use a re-useable shopping bag, while helping the environment by supporting the restoration of Motutapu Island, near Auckland.
About Motutapu island…
Motutapu is an island sitting alongside a much younger Rangitoto and is a short 40 minute ferry trip from downtown Auckland.
Motutapu, an island in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park is a recreation reserve administered by the Department of Conservation. The Motutapu Restoration Trust is a charitable trust which aims to restore the natural and cultural landscape of Motutapu. They undertake tree planting, nursery work, weed control and historic site preservation, by buying a mybagcares bag you are helping, financially, the native forest project on Motutapu. You can also help by joining us on a volunteer day on the island.
